Our story

Clos du Fleur de Lysé is a vineyard in southwest France south-western France, created by two Quebecers wine enthusiasts

A new life,
a new continent

Montreal natives Justine and Stephen founded Clos du Fleur de Lysé in 2024, making a dream that was unthinkable just a few years ago a reality. Their passion for wine first developed in the world of sommellerie, enhanced by numerous trips and tastings, notably in Italy Germany and Austria.

For Stephen, this passion emerged over ten years ago, when he spent several summers with his extended family in southern Italy. One thing led to another, and he met passionate sommeliers and inspiring winemakers. This was followed by an internship in Tuscany, then a course in Trentino (northeastern Italy). These experiences made him realize that he had no other option but to invest himself fully in wine. This passion rubbed off on Justine, who followed suit by enrolling in sommelier courses in Canada, notably the WSET, to develop her own wine knowledge.

It was in 2023 that the two decided to take the plunge and cross the Atlantic Ocean. The couple left the big city of Montreal and their careers – he as a pharmacist, she as a journalist – to embark on an adventure and follow a dream that, even today, seems unreal. In early 2024, their first visit to the department of the Lot was enough for them to fall madly in love, not only with the estate, but with the whole region. With a terroir reminiscent of Molise, Stephen’s italian region of origin, Justine and Stephen have found their new home in southwest France.
